Colon cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the United States. 15% of women and 25% of men who undergo screening colonoscopy have a potentially precancerous polyp, though many people with polyps are asymptomatic. Early detection with screening colonoscopy can save your life. There are therapies for all stages of colon cancer, but the earlier the stage, the better the prognosis.
