CRYSTAL RUN HEALTHCARE HOSTS CAREER EXPLORATION DAY FOR SULLIVAN COUNTY BOCES STUDENTS

Middletown, NY —April 14, 2010- On March 26, Crystal Run Healthcare hosted a successful Healthcare Career Exploration Day at the practice’s Rock Hill location. The event was held for 37 high school students in the Health Occupations Program at Sullivan County BOCES.

The students are in an Introduction to Health Occupations class that provides them with basic theory and skills and acquaints them with a variety of health occupations. The BOCES program allows the students the freedom to explore these professions while preparing for employment and/or college.

While at Crystal Run Healthcare, the students were given interviewing and job search tips. Human Resources Director, Tara Kammarada, coordinated a panel of 18 professionals representing various clinical and non-clinical areas of the practice. Each panel member provided clues to the students about their profession at Crystal Run Healthcare and the students were given the opportunity to guess their job titles. Through this interactive experience, the students learned about the education, training and skills required for a variety of healthcare employment opportunities.

Following the panel discussion, students were given a tour of some of Crystal Run’s state-of-the-art facilities including, Urgent Care, The Sleep Center, Diagnostic Imaging and the Laboratory. Lunch and t-shirts were provided.
