New York, N.Y. and Middletown, N.Y. – August 20, 2014 – Mount Sinai Health System and Crystal Run Healthcare announce the establishment of the Mount Sinai-Crystal Run Alliance for Healthcare Transformation (“The Mount Sinai-Crystal Run Alliance”). The Alliance is a partnership between Mount Sinai and Crystal Run in which the participants will share and implement best practices, invest and share financial and intellectual resources, strengthen provider networks, and employ innovative approaches to the creation of health care value—all in furtherance of the “Triple Aim” of Better Care, Better Health, and Lower Cost. While Crystal Run Healthcare, a dynamic multispecialty group medical practice, will remain an independent and physician-owned/physician led partnership, Mount Sinai and Crystal Run will seek opportunities for clinical and financial integration for the benefit of the communities and patients they serve.

“Health care transformation,” explains Hal Teitelbaum, MD, JD, MBA, Crystal Run’s Managing Partner & CEO, “refers to the evolution—some would say revolution—in health care in which the emphasis is no longer on visits, procedures and other transactions, but rather on health outcomes for both individual patients and the entire community. Sometimes referred to as value-based care,” adds Dr. Teitelbaum, “care transformation is about compensating physicians, hospitals and other providers for what we successfully accomplish for our patients, rather than for services we provide to our patients.” Founded in 1996, Crystal Run Healthcare has become a regional and national leader in health care transformation. Crystal Run has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to improve patient outcomes while lowering cost of care.

Dr. Teitelbaum notes that “Crystal Run is honored and privileged to be partnering with the Mount Sinai Health System. Mount Sinai has an exceptional legacy of innovation, groundbreaking research and outstanding patient care and commitment, while Crystal Run has enjoyed success in developing patient-centric community based physician practices, in employing entrepreneurial approaches to meeting patient needs for access to quality care, and in implementing value-focused strategies in pursuit of health care transformation. The combination of our strengths and our commitment to transformation of the health care system will be nothing short of game changing.”

“As an integrated health system committed to providing high quality, accessible care, we are very pleased to partner with Crystal Run Healthcare, whose clinical and financial innovations have been transformative,” said Kenneth L. Davis, MD, CEO and President of the Mount Sinai Health System.

“Mount Sinai is very pleased to have Crystal Run as our strategic partner as we continuously develop the best models of care to serve our patients,” said Arthur A. Klein, MD, President of the Mount Sinai Health Network.
