What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?
My earliest memory of wanting to become a doctor was during my college years, after observing my father treat patients as a family dentist. Seeing the patients' satisfaction seemed extremely rewarding.
What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?
Physical medicine and rehabilitation is the one specialty which attempts to directly improve a patient's functional capacity and quality of life, and I believe this is the most important aspect of overall patient care. This, in conjunction with my interest in musculoskeletal mechanics and impairments, makes being a physician a fulfilling occupation.
How do you connect with your patients?
I like to connect with patients on a personal level, particularly in regards to quality of life, social life, and function. I particularly enjoy providing patients with education to improve and maintain functional goals.
What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?
I enjoy maintaining a healthy lifestyle outside of work, and I exercise on a daily basis to stay in shape. My hobbies include traveling, music, video games, and motorcycling.
What is your advice for your patients?
Happiness coincides with staying active both mentally and physically.
