What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?
I have many family members who are doctors. My mother started medical school when I was nine and I really enjoyed learning through her experience. As I got older, I realized medicine was really something that interested me, and thankfully I found urology and have loved it since medical school.
What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?
Urology involves a lot of physics, which I always enjoyed. It's also a very good mixture of surgery and office based medicine, both of which I enjoy. Most importantly, Urologists have ample opportunity to achieve what patients want for themselves, resulting in good relationships.
How do you connect with your patients?
By explaining Urology to them. When they understand what's going on and what I'm thinking, communication is much better.
What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?
Anything outdoors - boating, travel, spending time with my wife and son, puttering around the house.
