What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?
I have always been fascinated with medicine and how the body works, and the first time I watched a surgery I was hooked. I went to medical school knowing that I wanted to be an Orthopedic Surgeon and never looked back.
What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?
The thing I love most about Orthopedics is that I can help patients regain the use of their upper extremity. There is nothing more satisfying than helping a patient decrease their pain or regain motion in their elbow, wrist, or hand.
How do you connect with your patients?
By taking time to listen to them. You learn much more about a patient by listening to them than by looking at an x-ray or reading a test result.
What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?
Spending as much time outdoors as possible, running, hiking, triathlons.
What is your advice for your patients?
I advise patients to start simple and exhaust all non-operative treatment options. If these all fail to provide relief, I'll be there to discuss surgery.
