What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?
Affinity for the sciences and altruistic personality since childhood. Mother: Doctor (Hematology/Oncology), Father: Doctor (Nephrology).
What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?
Meaningful patient relationships; helping cancer patients survive to see: Graduation, Weddings, Grandchildren, etc.; academically most fast-paced and innovative in all of medicine, by far.
How do you connect with your patients?
Real empathy, not just sympathy; first-hand knowledge how cancer uproots your life and sensibilities; intuit listening, honest communication; hugs.
What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?
Avid skier, frustrated golfer, pick-up basketball; certified, trained chef; spend lots of time with other members of prevail.org (charitable cancer organization); gardening.
What is your advice for your patients?
One day at a time, one foot in front of the other.
