Specialties

In the current landscape of conflicting information and advice about nutrition and healthy food choices, science-based information is more important than ever. Clinical nutrition takes an evidence-based approach to nutrition based on the latest science and information.

There are different areas of clinical nutrition. Pediatric nutritionists, for example, focus mostly or exclusively on children, while sports nutritionists are concerned with the specific nutrition needs of athletes, who put their bodies to the test every day.

These and other designations, including registered dietician (RD), certified nutrition specialist (CNS®), and nutritional therapist, require different levels of training, education, and certification. Registered dieticians, for example, have met stringent academic and professional requirements. This includes earning a bachelor’s degree with course work approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

Crystal Run’s registered dietitians partner with patients, primary care providers, and specialists to help tailor nutrition programs and provide education on healthy eating. Our team provides the following:

  • Community education on healthy eating
  • Nutrition education and dietary guidance for patients in weight management programs
  • Diabetes education and support programs
  • Nutrition guidance for patients who have special dietary needs or food restrictions due to specific medical conditions

Our nutritionists tailor plans to the specific needs of each patient and provide ongoing nutrition counseling.

Diabetes Management
