About Me

What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?

I’ve always loved mathematics & sciences and originally started in biomedical engineering. For several years I worked as an engineer, writing computer programs and working on robotic arms to measure and properly adjust radiation beams that were used in cancer treatment protocols. While working on devices that helped care for cancer patients, I found that I had an even greater passion caring for people. “Something is wrong ”, “I am scared, I need help”, “Am I going to be alright ?” “What can I do ?” These are the questions I try to answer every day.

What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?

Mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, grandmothers, aunts, friends... These are the people who make up the core of our lives and it is a privilege helping people of all ages with the unique problems women may encounter throughout all the stages of their lives. My particular interest is in female urinary incontinence, pelvic floor prolapse (cystocele, rectocele), pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic floor reconstruction and pelvic support surgical procedures using the newest Mesh tissue augmentation procedures. Obstetrics & Gynecology allows me to provide a wide range of services to women of all ages. It’s the diversity of services that I provide that has always been one of the most satisfying features of my specialty. • Routine and High-risk Obstetrics • Annual preventative exams • Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccinations – Gardasil • STD Screening • Family Planning • Contraception, including IUD’s and diaphragms • Management of Peri-menopause and Menopause • Infertility • Endometriosis • Urinary Incontinence evaluation and treatment • In office cystometrics • Abnormal uterine bleeding • Endometrial ablation • Laparoscopy Laparoscopic total hysterectomy, Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy • Hysteroscopy • Pelvic prolapse • Pelvic and vaginal surgery • Incisionless tubal ligation (Essure)

How do you connect with your patients?

Maybe I’m old fashioned but I believe in giving my patients the time they need to explain and express their problems in their own words, and explain how they experience problems in their own unique ways. I like to take time to get to know my patients, so that I can take their special needs and preferences into consideration. I educate my patients about their condition and the range of treatment options available. By partnering with my patients through listening, caring, education, diagnosis, progressive treatment options and ongoing care I incorporate all these factors so I can respect the decision my patients make about their care.

What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?

I enjoy traveling to different places of the country, sometimes through cross country motorcycle tours, and meeting new people from all walks of life. I also am an avid reader and enjoy various books on science fiction, history, politics, murder/mystery

What is your advice for your patients?

Treasure all moments in your life, but most of all treasure and respect the people you come across throughout your life. “Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live.”
