About Me

What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?

My father was a physician. He was my role model when I was growing up. I always wanted to help people feel better and improve their lives like he did.

What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?

Every person experiences pain at some point in their life. I like the challenge and reward of correctly identifying and treating someone's pain that is keeping them from living their lives and doing what they love.

How do you connect with your patients?

I listen to my patients to find out their treatment goals and wishes. Together, we form individualized treatment plans. I understand that pain is more than just arthritis or than that herniated disc in someone's spine. It is also about acknowledging someone's suffering, frustration, loss, depression, anxiety, and fear. It is more than just the pain generator that we need to treat. That bio-psycho-social approach is key.

What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?

Biking, hiking, trying different cuisines and new restaurants, my family, and my tuxedo cat.

What is your advice for your patients?

Worry about the things you can control. Prevention is the best medicine, starting with diet, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle.
