About Me

What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?

Ever since I was in elementary school, I have had a desire want to help others, it has always made me feel good whenever I was helping someone else.  When patients are sick in the hospital, going through the worst time of their lives, it brings me comfort to be able to provide that human connection and treat them with care and kindness.

What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?

What I love most about my role as a Nurse Practitioner is constant endless learning and being able to manage the care for my patients while they are in the hospital.   I chose this type of work because I am always ready to listen to my patients hear about their problems, set up a treatment plan and provide excellent care. I like to see my care makes a positive change in the lives of my patients.

How do you connect with your patients?

When patients are in the hospital they are scared, powerless, and vulnerable, the way I connect is listening and providing them with empathy and understanding. Making them feel safe, letting them know I am going to address their concerns and provide answers to their questions. Patients want to know what to expect so I try to give them and idea of what is happening today, what will happen tomorrow, and when they can expect to be discharged.

What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?

When I get a day off I like to relax read a good book, or head to the Jersey shore. I love to spend time with my husband, daughter, and grandchildren. We also like to go out locally to see live music.

What is your advice for your patients?

I often tell my patients to take care of themselves, eat healthy: less salt, sugar, lose weight, stay active and go to your Primary Care Provider regularly.
