Crystal Run patient will bicycle across state

News/Releases

MIDDLETOWN — Crystal Run Healthcare will sponsor Anastasia Austin of Orange County as she bicycles across New York State this summer to raise money for cancer research.

Austin, a Crystal Run patient who has overcome many medical obstacles, will be participating in the Empire State Ride to End Cancer, a seven-day, 547-mile ride from Staten Island to Niagara Falls. The ride will take place from July 29-Aug. 4. Funds raised through the Empire State Ride are managed by the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, the not-for-profit organization that manages all donations made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

“Because of the amazing doctors at Crystal Run, I have been able to overcome, or learn to manage, several major medical issues,” said Austin. “The tenacity, communication and compassion shown by my doctors gave me comfort during these scary times. Their dedication to my health has allowed me to continue to do the things I love, like riding my bike.”

“The Empire State Ride, a 7-day ride from Staten Island to Niagara Falls to raise money for cancer treatment research, has been a goal of mine for several years. Thanks to Crystal Run and their wonderful doctors, I am able to train for and look forward to riding the 547 miles this summer. The money raised by my ride supports cancer research being done at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, such as clinical trials and developing personalized medicine treatments, which utilizes an individual’s genetic makeup to determine the best course of treatment. If you’d like to make a donation, visit my fundraising page at give.roswellpark.org/goto/AnaAustin,” said Austin.
