A Leader in Technology

Crystal Run's radiology department was the first in the region to receive accreditation for digital mammography and one of the first in New York State to be accredited for CT scans from the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety and is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards. We are proud to say we are accredited by the ACR for 6 of our modalities, including CT, Mammography, MRI, Ultrasound, Stereotactic breast biopsy, and most recently, Breast MRI.

Low dose 3D mammogram

3D mammography, also called digital breast tomosynthesis, is a special kind of breast imaging that creates a three-dimensional picture of the breast. It helps doctors see breast tissue more clearly than with standard 2D mammograms.

Benefits

• Finds breast cancer earlier- 3D mammograms can find breast cancer earlier, sometimes even before you feel a lump. Early detection means treatment can start sooner, which often leads to better outcomes.
• More accurate results - This type of mammogram gives doctors a clearer view of your breast tissue. It helps them find real problems and avoid false alarms. That means fewer unnecessary tests and less worry for you.
• Fewer callbacks - Because the images are more detailed, you’re less likely to be called back for extra tests. This saves time and reduces stress.
• Better for dense breasts- If you have dense breast tissue, 3D mammography is especially helpful. It makes it easier to spot anything unusual that might be hiding in the tissue.
• Safe and low radiation- 3D mammograms use about the same amount of radiation as a regular mammogram. It’s a safe and effective way to check your breast health.

Bone density scan /DEXA or DXA scan (dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry)

A bone density scan, also called DEXA or DXA, uses X-rays to create an image of a bone. It’s the most common way to measure bone strength.
