Employee Spotlight | Cindy Mento, CRA Senior Director of Operations

At Crystal Run Healthcare we believe each individual contributes to building an extraordinary team. The People of Crystal Run Healthcare.

Meet Cindy Mento, CRA, Senior Director of Operations

Why do you love working at Crystal Run Healthcare?

I love our Core Values and that we put patients above all else.  Coming from a hospital background, I was very impressed to see all our accreditations and how seriously we take the privilege of caring for our patients.  I love that staff has opportunities to advance within the organization; and how we foster continuing their education to benefit our patients, staff, and organization.  We promote teamwork and provide staff with the resources they need to excel at their jobs.  Crystal Run is always changing and evolving for our patients.

What career path did you take to get to where you are today?

I came to CRHC as the Director of Diagnostic Imaging, spending my entire career in hospitals. When we became an ACO (AccountableCare Organization) and needed to expand and design our new buildings after the Everett Clinic in Seattle, I really became committed to a lean environment. As leaders, we spent a lot of time understanding the concept so we could put it to work for our patients.  After Newburgh opened and our first director of operations position was created, I thought this was a position I could excel at.  I have been the DOO of Monroe now for almost 6 ½ years.  The job has evolved since I started and that is what makes it so interesting. I was just recently promoted to Senior Director of Operations.

What advice do you have for someone just starting out in your field?

Work/volunteer in the healthcare field before you invest a lot of time and money. Make sure you really enjoy working with people or you will not be happy. There are programs out there where you can get a bachelor's or master's in Healthcare Management. Be a sponge and absorb as much hands-on knowledge as you can.

How do you help shape the patient experience at CRHC?

I try to get back to patients as quickly as possible when they have a concern. If I am not the correct person to assist them, I reach out to my colleagues asking them to assist. Listening to the patients and/or their family members/caregivers is so imperative. Empathy goes a long way, also. Patients want to know they have a voice and someone wants to listen to them.
