About Me

What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?

I was always very strong in math and science. After graduating high school, I decided to get an associate's degree in medical technology. I enjoyed being part of helping other people. After working in the field for a short time, I decided to get my bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry. While I was working on an Analytical Chemistry experiment, one of my professors came into the lab and said a lecture down the hall might be of interest to me. This was how I decided to become a Doctor of Optometry.

What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?

Helping people see. Once you hear a young child (with a previously undiagnosed, very substantial prescription) say, "oh mommy, the trees really do have leaves" when they look out the window with their first pair of glasses - how can you not love what you do?

How do you connect with your patients?

Try to let them see that I see them as a real person by understanding and then helping them with their visual needs.

What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?

Gardening, woodworking, and fly fishing.

What is your advice for your patients?

The need for routine wellness, medical, and eye care.
