Specialties

Our fellowship-trained electrophysiologists specialize in the diagnosis of arrhythmia/electrical disorders of the heart and treat them both non-invasively and invasively. Using electrophysiologic (EP) studies to record and evaluate the electrical activity of the heart, electrophysiologists treat many conditions including atrial/ventricular fibrillation, bradycardia, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), and other cardiac arrhythmias. Patients with these disorders frequently complain of palpitations, dizziness and blackouts.

Commonly Evaluated Conditions

  • Atrial fibrillation/AF management and evaluation including blood thinner (anticoagulation) management, antiarrhythmic medication management, and ablation procedures
  • Cardiomyopathy/congestive heart failure/or weak heart evaluation
  • Fainting spells evaluation
  • Pacemaker/defibrillator evaluation and management
  • Palpitations/skipped beats evaluation

Frequently Performed Procedures

  • Ablations (atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, premature ventricular contraction/PVC)
  • Implantable loop recorders
  • Pacemaker/defibrillator/biventricular (resynchronization) device implantation

Reasons to See an Electrophysiologist

  • Expertise on anticoagulation options and management for stroke prevention
  • Control of symptoms of palpitations or irregular/skipping heart beats
  • Management options for maintaining a normal electrical rhythm (sinus rhythm) including medicine options with antiarrhythmic medications or procedural options (ablation)
