Meet Audra LeGacy MSN RN, Infection Control Nurse Manager

Why do you love working at Crystal Run Healthcare?

I love working at Crystal Run Healthcare because of all of the amazing people I have worked with. I have formed so many special relationships since I started working here. I also appreciate the flexibility and opportunities that have been offered to me over the years.

What career path did you take to get to where you are today?

I have been a nurse for 20 years, and for most of my career, I have worked at Crystal Run Healthcare. I worked in Urgent Care as a nurse for 14 years, then as a Lead Clinical Preceptor in West Nyack. I was the Nursing Supervisor in Newburgh, and then most recently I became the Infection Control Nurse Manager. I obtained my BSN in 2017 and my MSN in Healthcare Policy in 2019.

What advice do you have for someone just starting out in your field?

Nursing is such a different field right now, especially since COVID. My advice to a novice nurse is to take every patient encounter, success, and mistake as a learning opportunity. You will learn something new every single day. Be easy on yourself you will be great. The most notable piece of advice I have for a new nurse is to be empathetic with everyone you encounter.

How do you help shape the patient experience at CRHC?

Patients need help navigating their health. I think I help shape their experience by advocating on their behalf to fulfill their health needs. Advocating for patients has been a constant theme across all aspects of my nursing career from bedside to my current role in Infection Control. My focus is making sure patients are safe and informed.
