At Crystal Run Healthcare we believe each individual contributes to building an extraordinary team. The People of Crystal Run Healthcare.
Meet Jamie Allen, BSN RN - RN Team Leader
Why do you love working at Crystal Run Healthcare?
I like working at CRHC mostly because of the great teamwork and camaraderie. The physicians are friendly and respectful. The other nurses are helpful and pleasant. It is truly like working with family. I love Crystal Run Healthcare’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion that I am proud to say I am a part of.
What career path did you take to get to where you are today?
At age 39 I graduated from nursing school at OCCC and received my RN shortly after. I also recently achieved my BSN from WGU. 14 years ago, I started my nursing career at CRHC and have stayed ever since. Previously, I had worked as a plant manager for a precious metal refinery. I decided I needed to find a more fulfilling career where I could directly help people.
What advice do you have for someone just starting out in your field?
I would advise new nurses to be observant of other experienced nurses. Many nurses have different approaches and skills that would be beneficial to incorporate into your own practice. Do not be afraid to try things out of your comfort zone, as that provides growth in your nursing career. Do not be afraid to ask questions.
How do you help shape the patient experience at CRHC?
I am always sure to really actively listen to what patients have to say. I try to be as understanding and compassionate as possible. I like to get to the route of the issue and resolve problems in order to help the patient. I take the time to explain in detail any plan of care or information a patient may be unsure about. I make patients aware that I am here to help them, and they can always feel free to reach out if they need my assistance.
