Meet Lisa Everle, MT, Pathology Manager
Why do you love working at Crystal Run Healthcare?
I love working for CRHC because of the people I work with. We have a knowledgeable team in the laboratory and in pathology who put patient care first and are willing to work together as a team. When co-workers go above and beyond for patients and each other, it makes coming to work enjoyable.
What career path did you take to get to where you are today?
I received my BS in Clinical Laboratory Science in Norfolk, VA, and started my career at a large children's hospital there in the clinical laboratory. It was incredibly tough but rewarding working with children. From there, I moved back to NY and continued my career at a local hospital laboratory before coming to CRHC in 2010. In 2013, I decided to transfer to the newly opened Pathology laboratory here at CRHC where I trained in Mohs surgery, histology, and cytology prep. In March of 2023, I was promoted to Pathology Manager.
How do you help shape the patient experience at CRHC?
As laboratory personnel, we are often not at the forefront of patient's thoughts. When they have their blood drawn or biopsies taken, often no one thinks about what happens to them after. We perform the diagnostic testing of your blood and body fluids and deliver those results to the provider. In pathology, we take your biopsies and make slides of your tissue and do special staining for our pathologists. With this career, we are often the first people to know that your biopsy has cancer present, that you need a blood transfusion or have leukemia, or many other issues. Being able to help diagnose a problem a patient is dealing with— whether it is a new problem or a recurring one— is very rewarding, and why I love the field I chose as a career!
