Innovative Treatments, Integrated Care

Welcome to Surgical Oncology at Crystal Run. Surgical Oncology is a branch of surgery that focuses on the surgical management of cancer. Our surgical oncologist, Dr. Howard Karpoff, was the first fellowship-trained surgical oncologist in the region. He is skilled in general and laparoscopic surgery, with a particular focus on breast surgery. Dr. Karpoff is dedicated to quality improvement and participates in the American Society of Breast Surgeons’ The Mastery of Breast Surgery Program - a voluntary quality improvement initiative designed to help surgeons document their clinical performance of breast procedures, as well as their care of breast cancer patients and patients at risk for breast cancer.

At Crystal Run, cancer care is delivered through a multi-disciplinary team approach. You’ll receive coordinated care from oncologists, certified oncology nurses, a surgical oncologist, and nutritionist. Plus, we make it easy to schedule lab work, diagnostic testing and biopsies, often all in one place. Because we also know that when it comes to receiving treatment, comfort, convenience and peace-of-mind are key.

Breast Procedures at Crystal Run:

  • Breast conservation
  • Skin-sparing mastectomy with reconstruction
